Hello Signalen community,
As you might have seen, the Foundation for Public Code will be winding down
the office in Europe (see this blog post:
https://blog.publiccode.net/news/2024/02/28/changes-at-the-europe-office.ht…
)
Therefore, we will no longer be able to steward the Signalen codebase to
the level which we aspire and want to be frank with you about stepping back.
Expect incoming pull requests that will be removing the references to
stewardship by the Foundation for Public Code from the repositories soon.
Best regards,
Jan Ainali, Codebase Steward

Hello,
We want to make a yearly check-in to see if we can help you plan the work
for this year of meeting more criteria of the Standard for Public Code.
You can find the current status for the backend in
https://github.com/Amsterdam/signals/blob/master/docs/topics/signalen-and-s…
As you can see, the backend is on good way on most criteria, but only fully
meets two out of 15.
We haven't yet sat down with a frontend developer to make an assessment of
that part of the codebase.
I suggest that we bring this up as an agenda item on the next product
steering meeting, with the goal of exploring what the ambitions could be
for short and long term.

Hello,
This year, the event FOSS North will be all online, which opens up
possibilities to present. The event is entirely in English and might be a
good way to promote Signalen. Last year, when the event also was online,
the audience was more global than only the Nordic countries (which was the
focus during the physical events).
I believe this would be a nice opportunity for a one or more persons to
give the first international talk about Signalen. Since the talks are
available online after the event, it will also give us a good linkable
resource. Is anyone up for presenting?
The Call for Papers deadline is February 13 and the event is happening
April 20-21:

Hi Signalen community,
Some personal news as I'm leaving the Foundation for Public Code to start
another job in January. Therefore, I will no longer belong to the
organization although I'll still be an enthusiastic public code supporter.
It's been an interesting time where I got to learn a lot about
open collaboration and got to know some of you better.
I wish you all the best in the future,
Alba

Hello,
some of you may have had an "Extra Product Steering meeting" in the
calendar today. This was not meant to be a monthly meeting, so we have just
removed it now.
The ordinary Product Steering Calls are every third Thursday of the month
at 11.00 CET. The next one is on December 16.
Everybody on this mailing list are welcome to join that call. If you want
to be added to the calendar invite, please reply off-list to me at
jan(a)publiccode.net.
Best regards,
Jan Ainali, Codebase Steward

Beste Allemaal,

(applaus)
Groeten,
